'Gaana Kokila' Susheelamma's Birthday

Famous cine playback singer, also known as 'Gaana Kokila', P. Susheela was born on 13 November 1935 in a musician's family hailing from the citadel of music Vizianagaram. She obtained Diploma in classical music from Maharaja's College at an early age. A producer Nageswara Rao was searching for new singing talents and All India Radio referred five prospective singers to him. Out of the five, P. Susheela was the only one who was selected
She recorded her first song in 1955, a duet with A.M. Raja in a Tamil movie Petrathayi. The same was re-made in Telugu with ANR and G. Varalaxmi as "Kanna Thalli". Then onwards she became familier wit Telugu audience as a singer. Later she started working AVM production house on monthly salary as a singer and transformed in to the most popular female playback singer. Her petname 'Tella Kokila' given by singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam is well known to the audience. Today is her birthday and on this happy occasion, Teluguone wishes her Many Many Happy Returns of The Day.
